Kuwait City: Ministry of Communications has issued a decision for a comprehensive revision of tariffs of international calling through fixed landline phones from Kuwait to about 247 countries and cities. The decision to reduce the rates by more than 15 percent will come into effect on Jan 2, 2017.

Kuwait: Internet services in Kuwait were interrupted on Friday due to defect in the main marine GCC cable, the Ministry of Communication said. Buthaina Al-Sbaiee, the assistant undersecretary for administrative and legal affairs, said in a statement that the electronic services in the other GCC countries were also affected.

Kuwait: The Public Authority for Information Technology and Telecommunications plans to privatize the communication sector at the Ministry of Communication, including the needed infrastructure, landlines, long distance cables and telephone exchange centers, Board chairman and CEO Salem Al-Othaina. Othainah added that landlines are no longer run by governments anywhere in the world. Further, Othainah said that all executive, administrative and technical preparations have been done to allow launching the authority as soon as possible to be the sole executor of all the measures to be taken by telecom providing companies.
