Kuwait: According to consumer protection law no 39/2014, consumers have a right to exchange products or get a refund within 14 days of purchase, the ministry of commerce and industry emphasized yesterday. In a press statement, the ministry pointed out the law allows a consumer to replace or return a defected product within 14 days of purchase (provided that it is not a perishable product), and further states that vendors and suppliers are jointly liable.

KUWAIT: The National Assembly yesterday approved a new law for delinquent juveniles in which the age of minors was lowered from 18 to 16 years in a bid to help authorities curb a sharp increase in the crime rate. The law was approved in the first reading by 37 MPs including Cabinet ministers, opposed by seven lawmakers, while two members abstained. The second and final round of voting is scheduled to take place after two weeks.

Kuwait: Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Maj Gen Abdullah Al-Muhanna instructed all traffic departments to revoke all driving permits (istimara) that were issued before the new traffic law which sets the new rules and conditions to get a driving license. This decision applies to those who did not complete all the procedures of issuing licenses before Dec 7, 2014, the date of the new law’s issuance, as they got their licenses before this date and did not complete the rest of the procedures until after Dec 7, Kuwait Times reported quoting Al Watan.

Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Muhanna said the ministry is coordinating with border posts and car insurance offices in order to not allow any expat to leave the country until all traffic fines are paid.
