The Kuwait public transport system is used by only 8 percent of people
Only eight percent of the Kuwaiti population uses public transport facilities in the country, local daily reported quoting Director for Transportation at Kuwait Public Transport Company Abdullah Saleh. The total population of Kuwait is around 3.7 million people. It’s noted that the average percentage of public transport usage in most countries is 30 percent.
The percentage is relatively low compared to the rest of the world, but it is not too bad as it is possible to build on it since some countries in the Arabian Gulf do not have public transport at all, Abdullah Saleh said. He also said that developing public transport system is important for the country and this is the only solution to traffic congestion and it is a major element of the economy. The lack of commitment to it will paralyze the development process, he added.
