Kuwait: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Planning and Development Hind Al-Subaih said owners of major companies will be allowed to apply for visas online and that this measure will end many problems resulting from crowding. Speaking during a surprise tour at the Capital labor department, Subaih said that she had given direct instructions to automate transaction applications and online applications as soon as possible.

Kuwait: The Manpower Public Authority and Interior Ministry agreed to extend the grace period given to workers transferring from one sponsor to another from 60 days to 90 days, so that they could get a better chance to get suitable jobs without being reported absconding. Badriya Al-Mukaimi, Deputy Director of the Manpower Protection Department at the authority, made this announcement while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of attending a workshop titled ‘Introducing Labor Act 6/2010 to both Employers and Employees.

Kuwait may increase the fees collected from expatriate workers for issuing or renewing work visas, a senior government official announced. Currently, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor collects KD 12 per new visa issued or transaction to transfer a visit visa to a work visa, while renewing a work visa requires an annual payment of KD 2.
