Crime rate in Kuwait dropped by 9 percent: Ministry of Interior

Kuwait: Crime rates have dropped by nine percent in 2015 compared to 2014; a good indicator of the efforts exerted by the Interior Ministry to fight and limit different types of crimes, the ministry’s Relations and Security Media Department said in a press statement yesterday. A statistical report issued by the ministry shows that drugrelated crimes have dropped by 17 percent, while suspects arrested in relation to drugs dropped by 15 percent.

Kuwait City: Securitymen from the Capital Governorate have arrested 18 people of various nationalities who were staying in tin houses on the rooftop of residential buildings overlooking Mubarakiya, reports Al- Rai daily. The daily added, the arrest came after police received a tip-off from undisclosed sources that people wanted by law were taking shelter on rooftops.

Man arrested for smashing cars in Sharq

Kuwait: Responding to a video circulated over social media showing a man smashing the windows of a vehicle passing by in Sharq industrial area, the Ministry of Interior’s Relations and Security Media Department explained that a police patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene and arrested the man. He was identified as a 57-year-old citizen, and was captured while behaving erratically. The department said that the man also had some illicit pills, which suggests he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the attack.

They noted that the suspect had been robbing expats threatening them and stealing vehicle contents after breaking them open. Case papers indicate that after receiving several reports about vehicle burglaries and armed robbery, detectives found out that the suspect was a citizen with a criminal record.
