Products can be returned within 14 days: Kuwait Consumer Protection Law

Kuwait: According to consumer protection law no 39/2014, consumers have a right to exchange products or get a refund within 14 days of purchase, the ministry of commerce and industry emphasized yesterday. In a press statement, the ministry pointed out the law allows a consumer to replace or return a defected product within 14 days of purchase (provided that it is not a perishable product), and further states that vendors and suppliers are jointly liable.

Kuwait lowered minors' age from 18 to 16 years

KUWAIT: The National Assembly yesterday approved a new law for delinquent juveniles in which the age of minors was lowered from 18 to 16 years in a bid to help authorities curb a sharp increase in the crime rate. The law was approved in the first reading by 37 MPs including Cabinet ministers, opposed by seven lawmakers, while two members abstained. The second and final round of voting is scheduled to take place after two weeks.

New mechanism for Kuwait govt project work permits

Kuwait: A team from the Manpower Public Authority led by Director Ahmad Al-Moussa recently met with bodies concerned with government contracts in order to set a new mechanism to issue work permits for laborers working in governmental projects, said informed sources. The sources explained that the new mechanism adopts issuing those work permits gradually according to the project’s phases and the type of labor needed for each phase.
