Dependents residency renewal limited to sponsor’s residency validity

Kuwait: Starting from January 10, 2016, the renewal validity of expatriates dependents’ residency visa a.k.a. family visa (article 22) would be tied to the validity of those of their own sponsors, said Director of the Interior Ministry’s Residency Affairs Department Major General Talal Maarafi. “This means that if an expat’s residency is valid for one year, he can only renew those of his wife or kids for a single year,” he explained.

Kuwait: The Interior Ministry has urged the Health Ministry to report any patients admitted to its hospitals with expired visas so that they could be turned in pending legal procedures and deportation, well-informed sources said. Both ministries are currently coordinating to arrest all illegal residents hospitalized in various public hospitals and medical centers and to report on anyone already discharged after receiving medical treatment, the sources added. The measure was taken to help authorities track down visa violators and reduce their numbers.
