Apple announces iPhone 7
Tech giant Apple announced its new products, including the iPhone 7, iWatch Series 2 and new wireless headphones, AirPods, on Wednesday.
The iPhone, which has crossed one billion units in sales making it the biggest selling smartphone, will in its latest edition be water and dust resistant, CEO Tim Cook told an audience in San Francisco, CA.
The smartphone comes in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus categories, and both feature new colors like black and jet black alongside silver, gold and rose gold.
The iPhone 7 camera will feature a 12 megapixel lens that is faster, while the Plus offers two 12 megapixel cameras.
Apple have done away with a cable socket for earphones, and instead have placed sensors that will detect its new AirPods product.
The smartphones will also be 120 times faster than their predecessor, with 240 times faster graphics performance, while battery life will be about two hours longer.
The iPhone 7 ups storage to 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB, and the pricing in the US remains the same as the 6s, starting at USD 649 for the 32GB.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 7 Plus starts at USD 769 for the 32GB.
The smartphones will be up for preorders on Friday, with shipping starting only a week later.
