Kuwait banned live poultry from Algeria, Poland and Switzerland
Kuwait: The Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) issued a temporary ban on importing live poultry, eggs and chicks from Algeria, where the avian flu virus H7N1 has been detected.
PAAAFR also banned similar imports from Poland and Switzerland due to detecting the H5N8 virus there.
The decision was made as a preventive measure taken according to World Organization for Animal Health regulations as well as the GCC veterinary quarantine. The decision also mandated importers of any infected shipments to re-export them at their own expense.
