Liquor factory busted





Ahmadi police have discovered a liquor factory in Wafra area. A man was seen holding a bag – on seeing policemen, he tried to escape but was caught with a bag containing four bottles of locally made liquor. When asked about the source, he led police to a place where eight barrels of liquor was found, in addition to 250 bottles. Police have launched investigation. In another development, Residency Affairs detectives have arrested an Egyptian man accused of forging health cards.

'Hala February' Festival celebrations will start from January 8

The Supreme Committee for the 'Hala February' Festival announced here on Tuesday that the Festival's activities will kick off on January 8 and will continue till February 8.

The Committee said in a statement that it took into account such date would not conflict with the celebration of the Standing Committee of the celebrations of Kuwait's national holidays and the celebrations on granting His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the title of a "Humanitarian Leader" by the United Nations and designation of Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center".

Winter is coming... Heat a room for less than 100 fils a day!




Journalist, YouTuber, and boat owner Dylan Winter created his DIY heater using tea lights and placed inside abread tin and covered with two ceramic flowerpots.

This creative system uses the scientific principles of convection heat transfer and, according to Winter, can heat his home for around 8 hours a day.

His YouTube Channel KeepTurningLeft shows how the method works: The tea lights are first put into a bread loaf tin and covered with a small upside-down flower pot.

225 people killed in road accidents in first 6 month; KD 34,882,870 collected as traffic fines





The Ministry of Interior reported Saturday that the death toll of road accidents topped 225 people in the first six months of 2014.

The fatalities include 88 Kuwaiti citizens and the rest are foreign residents; they include 197 male victims, or 88 percent, and 28 females, the ministry reported, citing statistics of the Traffic Dept.

The report is released on the occasion of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, being celebrated on the third Sunday of November every year.
