Commercial To Work Permit Suspended; Visit Visas extension Rejected
The Residence Affairs Investigation General Department recorded 50 violations committed by domestic labor offices during a campaign carried out recently under the supervision of Assistant Undersecretary for Residency, Citizenship and Passports Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al- Jarrah and Director General of the department Major General Ghazi Al-Mai’a, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed the violations included non-compliance with rules on the recruitment of domestic workers, failure to transfer the residence of some workers to the sponsorship of those who requested for their services, and operating the offices without a license. Sources also confirmed the formation of a committee tasked to deal with absconding cases filed against expatriates, including the cancellation of such cases found to have no legal merit.
Sources went on to say Al-Jarrah issued a decision to suspend the transfer of commercial visit visas to work permits while it is not allowed to transfer family visas to dependent visas. Sources disclosed some foreigners apply for family visas to bring members of their family here to undergo treatment in Kuwaiti hospitals. Sources added Al-Jarrah has rejected applications for extension of visit visas for more than three months.
