Kuwait clinched seven medals, including two gold for Maryam Al-Rezouqi in the women's events, on the first day of the 11th Arab Shooting Championship on Wednesday.

The President of Arab Shooting Union and President of Kuwait Shooting Union Duaij Al-Otaibi praised, in a statement to KUNA, today's achievements in the competition which ends on November 19.

Al-Otaibi said that Kuwait places great importance to the sport of shooting, and does much to supports its development at the local level all the way up to international participation.

Kuwait will commence initial steps to embark on the national railway system as part of a plan to make the system fully operational by late 2018, said a Kuwaiti official here Wednesday.

On the sideline of a workshop regarding the GCC railway project, Kuwait's Ministry of Communications Executive Abdulhadi Al-Marri told KUNA that the Kuwaiti national railway system will be connected to the overall GCC railway project which would aim at improving transportation in the region.

Kuwaiti kidnapped in lebanon freed

A Kuwaiti man kidnapped in August in the eastern Lebanese Bekaa valley yesterday was released and handed over to the authorities, a security source said. There were no signs the kidnapping had been politically motivated, the source said without elaborating. “Thanks to the mediation of Mufti Sheikh Bakr Al-Rifai, the Kuwaiti citizen… was handed over to the Lebanese General Security authorities in Baalbek,” the source said, referring to the top Muslim authority in the main eastern Lebanese city. “We can say for sure that the kidnapping was not politically motivated,” he added.

Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) said Tuesday it had provided humanitarian aid to some 80,000 displaced Syrian families in Lebanon since the crisis broke out.

The Society is continuously providing aid to Syrian refugees especially in Jordan and Lebanon, where the majority of Syrians seek shelter, Head of the field team Dr. Musaad Al-Anezi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) upon the conclusion of the humanitarian aid campaign which started last week.
