Kuwait University is celebrating tomorrow its 48th anniversary of its official establishment on September 28/ 1966 by His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah amid a solemn ceremony.

Kuwait University was established according to law number 29/1966, and was officially opened five years after Kuwait gained its independence.

An official decision will soon be issued to curb the practice of Indian nurses being forced to pay bribes of thousands of dinars to recruitment companies in Kuwait for working in the nursing sector in Kuwait, especially after the Indian Embassy in Kuwait officially contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs almost three months ago and demanded action in this regard. Such a decision can put an end to the corruption, irregularities and wrong practices being carried out for recruiting nurses and health workers in Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ten days I spent in Bombay revealed the social artificiality we are experiencing and how the way we treat expatriates in our country is so prejudiced and one-sided. Everybody is what they really are there (in India) while many wear masks here in Kuwait.

A short while ago, I went to India on a touristic visit along with my wife and daughter where we spent ten days during which we learnt some new things and got ideas and impressions from our daily life there. The game of analogies is the best when mingling with others during travels.

The exchange rate of the US dollars against the Kuwaiti dinar was stable at KD 0.291 on Monday, while the euro was stable at KD 0.360 compared to Sunday.

The Central Bank of Kuwait said in its daily bulletin that the sterling was stable at KD 0.455, the Swiss franc dropped to KD 0.299, and the Japanese yen was unchanged at KD 0.003.

The US dollar had risen this week, attracting large numbers of investors, mainly due to positive reports released by the Federal Reserve about a prominent development in economy.

The parliamentary Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on Sunday approved the proposal to amend the Residency Law in order to limit the residency period for expatriates with low-income jobs to five years.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Committee Rapporteur MP Abdul- Hameed Dashti confirmed approval of the bill which was presented by MP Abdullah Al-Tamimi.

He explained the bill stipulates deportation of expatriates with low-income jobs after five years of staying in the country.
